Boston City Hall Elopement with a Dog in a Tux

This stylish elopement got the attention of Boston Mayor Michelle Wu. Scroll to the bottom for the full story behind the day.

On a crisp March day, Sanella and Frelix arrived from New York to elope in Boston—with their beloved sidekick Walnut, who came dressed for the occasion in a doggie tux and bow tie.

The day began at The Godfrey Hotel, where the couple got ready in the heart of downtown. There was a quiet excitement in the air. Afterward, they set off on foot toward Boston City Hall. Along the way, they turned heads and drew smiles.

Before reaching City Hall, they made a quick stop at Cuffs & Collars by Antoine Rubini. There, Frelix picked out a new bow tie—a sharp finishing touch that added even more flair.

At City Hall, Walnut quickly stole the show. Heads popped around corners. Staff paused to admire him. Soon, the buzz of “the world’s cutest dog” spread through the building.

Word even reached Mayor Michelle Wu, who came out of her office to meet the couple and their charming companion.

Sanella and Frelix exchanged vows in a quiet, heartfelt ceremony on March 11. Walnut stood nearby, proudly serving as witness.

It was intimate, joyful, and full of small surprises. In other words, it was everything a city hall elopement should be.

Whether it’s a spontaneous stroll, a new bow tie, or a surprise visit from the Mayor, days like this remind us what matters most. The best love stories don’t need a big stage—just two people, a good dog, and a little adventure.
